U*lovett! Stories of China

From Blogger Pictures

The scenic photo above is one of my favorite places to meander in the Zhuhai District. It sits along the Pearl River that flows through the ancient capital of Guangdong Province, Guangzhou--or more affectionately known in the west as...Canton!

I spent five years in that fantastic city, often times amazed, shocked, even frightened on ocassion at how the mainland Chinese (with a few thousand expatriats!) live on a daily basis. I experienced their passions, their fears, and their losses on a personal level.

So the purpose of this site is to bring those stories out into the open and I welcome anyone and everyone who has a story about modern China to contribute.

If you have a story or an idea (if you need help with editing for instance) you would like to send along, go to the contact link at top. To contact me, you may use the email address on the bottom of my photo. You may also leave a message or comment in the guestbook at the bottom of the page.

Current Story List

Below are the current stories, with synopsis. If you wish to contribute a story, click the link at the top.

ATM Asian Mayhem     My true, frightening, and harrowing ordeal of being robbed, arrested, and later, being sentenced to prison in mainland China. This story covers the five days of HELL prior to spending six months in a "detention center"--in actuality a brain washing facility, compliments, the Chinese Communist Party.

Woman In The Rain     A true story of how a prostitute with a heart of gold saved me from being robbed and possibly worse! This story gives some great insight into some aspects of the often harsh, and difficult lives of MANY women in China.

The Flower Kids of Canton     In China's large cities, beggar children are everywhere, and they do not receive any of the money given to them by thoughtful strangers. Read how I found a way to benefit them without giving them money, and also created an ongoing tradition in Guangzhou (Canton).
